Like Seinfeld, O’Toole likely to fail on follow-through

-

Re O’Toole won’t say which guns he’d ban, Sept. 5

Erin O’Toole has really backed himself into a corner on gun control. He is quoted as saying: “We will conduct a transparent review of the firearms classification process to take the politics out of this process and engage the public in decisions with respect to public safety.”

In the last Angus Reid poll, the vast majority of Canadians voted against these weapons.

Engaging the public will be an academic exercise as he will hear we don’t want these weapons in Canada. We are not the United States.

This could only mean he is planning to follow the Doug Ford playbook and say you will consult the public, but still do whatever you please.

It is like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry tells the rental car clerk “You are good at taking reservations, but not very good at keeping reservations.”
