The Columbus Blue Jackets have replaced assistant coach Sylvain Lefebvre after he declined to get a COVID-19 vaccinatio­n. “While we are disappoint­ed, we respect that this decision is a personal one for Sylvain and wish him well,” general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen said. Lefebvre, who was hired in July, is being replaced by Steve McCarthy, who had been an assistant with the team’s AHL affiliate in Cleveland.

The Houston Texans do not plan to play quarterbac­k Deshaun Watson during the 2021 NFL season, according to ESPN. Watson is currently facing 22 active civil lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints alleging sexual misconduct.
