NDP criticism of Liberals on child care is pure hypocrisy
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh’s comments on the failure of the Liberal government to implement a system of universal child care at the French and English debates were rather clueless.
If Canada doesn’t yet have universal child care, one has to point the finger at the NDP who betrayed their beliefs and the children of Canada in 2005 in supporting a motion of non-confidence and triggering an election just as Paul Martin’s minority government had finally succeeded in signing an agreement with all the provinces for a national child care program.
This misled attempt to grab power brought years of Conservative government and the roll back of every advance done in child care, environment and Indigenous rights.
Sadly, history might repeat itself.
