‘Ted Lasso’ wins big with TV critics
The TV series that’s favoured to win Best Comedy at the Emmy Awards on Sunday scored big with the Television Critics Association.
Apple TV Plus’s “Ted Lasso” won Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, Outstanding New
Program and Program of the Year at the 37th annual TCA Awards.
The Individual Achievement in Comedy prize went to Jean Smart for HBO Max’s “Hacks.” Smart also won the Career Achievement Award, while another show she’s been acclaimed for, HBO’s “Mayor of Easttown,” won Outstanding Movie, Miniseries or Special.
The Individual Achievement in Drama award went to Michaela Coel for HBO’s “I May Destroy You.”
Netflix’s “The Crown,” also an Emmys favourite, took Outstanding Drama.
The association, which is made up of more than 200 North American TV journalists (including this writer), gave its Heritage Award to NBC’s multiple Emmy-winning “The Golden Girls.”
