SCARBOROUGH NORTH
Shaun Chen has won the riding of Scarborough North for the Liberals.
Chen’s victory secures him a third term in office, having been first elected federally in 2015.
The riding was created during a boundary redrawing in 2012, and is made up mostly of the previous Scarborough-Rouge River and Scarborough-Agincourt ridings. ScarboroughRouge River had been a Liberal stronghold, but swung orange with an NDP win in 2011.
Chen is a former TDSB trustee, having been elected in 2006. He was elected chair of the local school board in 2014 before his run for federal office the next year.
By clinching the Scarborough North seat again, Chen fended off challenges from Conservative Fazal Shah, an insurance and financial services professional, New Democrat Christina Love, a student at York University, Green Eleni MacDonald and the People’s Party’s David Moore.
