BRAMPTON SOUTH

- Ben Cohen

Sonia Sidhu has won the riding of Brampton South for the Liberals.

She has represented the riding in the House of Commons since 2015.

Sidhu worked for more than 18 years in health care before entering politics. Affordability, creating a clean environment, addressing racism and advocating for health care for Brampton residents, along with support for businesses impacted by the pandemic are some of her other priorities.

She successfully fended off challenges from Conservative Ramandeep Brar, the owner of a transportation company, and NDP candidate Tejinder Singh, a real estate broker.

The Green party did not name a candidate in this riding.

As an MP, Sidhu was responsible for private member’s Bill C-237, which requires the health minister to create a national framework to tackle diabetes. It was passed in early July.
