RAE COLLEEN HANSEN

1929 - 2021

-

From the bottom of a well of sadness, we announce the passing of our mother Rae Hansen (née Yelverton), on September 23rd, in her 93rd year. We'll keep her memory as close as a mother's touch, and remember the joy of her laughter until she is once again united with the ones she most loved: daughters Lise, Randi and Kari, their spouses Phil, Marc and Paul, her grandchildren GeoЇrey (Brianne), Adam (Melissa), Perry Rae, Tyler (Kristen), Kyle and great-grandson Jacob. Rae was born in small-town Ohio but never held a parochial disposition. She travelled the world with her late husband Erik, whom she met while working for a naval attaché in the American Embassy in pre-Castro Havana. They courted and married in Cuba and Rae enthusiastically took on the role of wife, mother, and partner to a rising executive in the Nestle Corporation. International postings took the growing family around the world with stays in Connecticut, The Philippines, Switzerland, Japan and Јnally to Canada, where she and Erik retired and reveled in the birth and nurturing of Јve grandchildren.

Rae has left us all with many treasured family memories that include cottage weeks in the summer, ski trips at New Year's, an unforgettable extended family visit to Switzerland, special holiday celebrations at the Cricket Club, and multiple visits to Randi and Marc's Virginia farm.

We wish to thank the staЇ at Sunrise of Richmond Hill for their caring support throughout our mom's residency. As well, we are beyond grateful for the amazing and compassionate support provided during the end-of-life stage by Maliha, Salome, Indie, Simi, Rita, Marcia and Nelia.

The family will hold a special Celebration of Life when regulations ease further. If you so wish, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Online condolences and memories may be shared at:
