Netflix embroiled in Chappelle furor

Netflix recently suspended three employees, including a transgender employee who criticized a new Dave Chappelle stand-up special on the streaming service as transphobic on Twitter.

Netflix said in a statement that the employee, Terra Field, was not suspended because of the tweets.

Chappelle’s special, “The Closer,” debuted on Netflix on Tuesday and was quickly criticized by several organizations, including GLAAD, for “ridiculing trans people.”

As criticism began last week, Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos sent a memo to employees saying the special doesn’t cross the line on hate.
