NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said the league has only four unvaccinated players as it opens up the 2021-22 season.

Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon will miss the season opener against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19. Colorado GM Joe Sakic said MacKinnon is “asymptomatic and feeling good” and added the team is 100 per cent vaccinated against the coronavirus.

Kyrie Irving won’t play or practise with the Nets, regardless of venue or circumstance, until he gets a COVID-19 vaccine shot, the team said Tuesday. “Kyrie has made a personal choice, and we respect his individual right to choose,” GM Sean Marks said.
