Netflix employees will stage walkout

Transgender Netflix employees and allies will stage a walkout next Wednesday to protest the streaming giant’s decision to release Dave Chappelle’s latest comedy special, “The Closer.”

On a company Slack channel, the Netflix employee resource group Trans* said, “our leadership has shown us that they do not uphold the values for which we are held … we have been told explicitly that we somehow cannot understand the nuance of certain content.”

Another staffer said the walkout is meant to pressure the company to acknowledge the harm caused by Chappelle’s transphobic comments. News of the walkout comes after software engineer Terra Field, a trans employee, was reinstated after being suspended for attending a business review to which she was not invited.
