In Doug Ford’s Ontario, nurses deserve better
If nurses are our heroes, then why is their pay raise so
lousy? Oct. 4
It’s about time we hear from someone other than nurses warning the public about the severe shortage of registered nurses and practical nurses. There is a significant exodus of experienced and novice nurses in this province; years of government cuts to health care have contributed to chronic understaffing and increased work loads.
The Doug Ford government passed Bill 124, knowing it would immediately impact the nursing profession. Despite a pandemic, countless protests and campaigns, Bill 124 has not been repealed. It is now rated as the most common reason for nurses leaving the profession altogether. Health care professionals have a duty to advocate for better patient care.
Without a nurse, there is no health care.
