GM gives staff two months to meet vaccine mandate

Company says all personnel, including visitors, required to have both doses by Dec. 12

- JACOB LORINC BUSINESS REPORTER

General Motors Canada says its employees have two months to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a statement released Thursday, the company said that all personnel, including visitors, at General Motors facilities across Canada must have two doses of a governmentapproved COVID-19 vaccine as of Dec. 12.

“We are joining many other companies, from multiple sectors, supporting public-health initiatives to increase vaccination rates and further reduce the impact of COVID-19 across Canada. Vaccination has been shown to be effective in reducing the transmission of the virus as well as reducing the health impacts if a vaccinated person does contract the virus,” the statement said.

Exemptions and accommodations will be rare and evaluated on a caseby-case basis, the company’s statement said.
