Siminovitc­h noms for T.O. designers

Two Toronto theatre designers are among the nominees for the $75,000 Siminovitc­h Prize.

The prize honours a mid-career Canadian theatre director, playwright or designer, with each discipline alternatin­g over a three-year cycle.

In 2021, designers are being honoured, with Toronto lighting designer Michelle Ramsay, and set and costume designer Gillian Gallow among the nominees.

Ramsay has worked for theatre, dance and opera companies in Toronto and beyond, winning eight Dora Awards for her work.

Gallow also has a long theatre and opera resumé, winning four Dora Awards as well as the Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award in Costume Design.

The other nominees are Montreal costume designer Linda Brunelle and Vancouver costume designer Nancy Bryant.

The winner, to be announced Dec. 2, will choose a protégé to receive $25,000.
