Bottom line
With a market capitalization of $212 billion (U.S.), Intel is a microchip behemoth. While AMD’s market capitalization is just over half of Intel’s, at $132 billion, it has made a name for itself in the computer processing industry, which gives it brand power. With Apple’s announcement in June 2020 that it would switch the processor in some of its products from Intel to the Apple designed M1, investors may be concerned about the impact on Intel’s bottom line. While this is a fair concern, Intel is welldiversified across product lines, which allows it to make up for the lost partnership. It’s a thumbs-up for Intel this week.
