A nasty election is brewing, and how disheartening it is

Re Brace yourself for the nastiest Ontario election ever, Oct. 13

Would someone please remind me who, when and why someone decided that we should follow the U.S. practice of fixed election dates?

Already, the nastiness is out of the gate here in Ontario and, despite some restrictions coming up soon, the electioneering has begun. Run the opponents down and sic the alchemists on the rest of us. Recall that Premier Doug Ford assembled his 2022 election readiness committee mere weeks into his ascension as premier.

This long drawn-out period of electioneering nastiness just feeds the incivility unleashed with particular success by Donald Trump. Enough. L.A. McKenna, Mono Township, Ont.
