NANCY LORRAINE BARBER 1953 — 2021

Barber nurtured her children with the love of reading and learning. Nanny “B” will be remem- bered for her infectious smile and easy laugh. She enjoyed her long career as a children servic- es consultant with the City of Toronto. She could always be found with a book or crossword in her hand, taking notes or helping one of her children with homework or projects — always patient and never judging. She enjoyed planning all the family trips and spending time at the cottage in Huntsville.

DAVID HUGH BARR 1930 — 2021

Barr started his career with the Royal Bank of Canada, where he quickly rose from a junior staff member to a senior accountant. But after a promising banking career, in 1960 Barr realized his true calling was in education. He started a 27-year career as an teacher, guidance counsel- lor and principal with the Etobicoke Board of Education. After retirement, Barr and his wife moved to Orillia, where they were active at St. Paul’s United Church. He was affectionately known by some as Pastor Dave. He was an avid sportsman and accomplished athlete. He ex- celled on many teams in his teen years, and was proud to have played competitively until the age of 48, leading the Rexdale United team to a seven-year victory stretch.

PAUL DAVID BIGRAS 1942 — 2021

After graduating from McGill University and time working with his father and brother at Roland Bigras et Associés, Bigras embarked on a 40-year career in sales and marketing. He would often say that his life began when he met his bride, Donna. They raised their family in Kirkland, where he left his mark on the growing town — from canvassing to build a swimming pool, to men’s slo-pitch, to serving countless Bigras hot dogs at Kirkland Day. Anyone who spent time with Birgas knew that he loved to share life philosophies, silly stories and laughter. After retiring, he split his time between three-hour daily walks and imparting executive coaching at his local Starbucks.
