What about the foundations of the country? Walkable interactive Canadian history, engaging and knowledgeable staff, with rotating exhibits for a whole now world of exploration every few months.

Niagara Falls is much more than just a waterfall. Our family experienced it by learning more about our country, where we came from, and how Canada evolved from a group of villagers using Lundy’s Lane for trade, to an organized and hardened force defending Lundy’s Lane and the very nation in one of the bloodiest battles of the war of 1812.

The battlefield, the lane itself, and the Drummond Hill Cemetery occupy a large part of Niagara Falls, and a visit to the Niagara Falls History Museum is where to begin.

On the walk to the museum, kitty corner to the bustling downtown, you’ll pass strip malls and commercial plazas that were significant parts of the battlefield. Inside the museum, a turn to the right transports you into a visiting exhibit hurtling you through Canadian’s experience in space.

The history of Niagara Falls itself is next, including the war of 1812. Interactive exhibits with opportunity for young and old to see and feel the history that happened beneath your feet.

Head up the hill and climb the stone steps into the Drummond Hill Cemetery. Feel the weight of the sacrifice and learn just how the battle was won with descriptive signboards for your family to follow.

Hungry from the walk? History is not all this town has to offer. Culinary delights, entertainment and the fall themselves beckon. What could be next?
