Passed away peacefully, on May 8, 2022, in Toronto, at Sunnybrook Hospital. Predecease­d by his beloved wife of 69 years May Victoria Stevenson (2016) and his beloved son David (2019). Dean is survived by his daughters Diane Struthers (John deceased) and Susanne Flett, son-in-law John Flett, daughter-in-law Joan Fockler, his grandson John Flett (Olivia Dalton-Jez), granddaugh­ter Jodi Flett (Arthur Stockdale), greatgrand­children James and Lexi.

Dean also leaves Joan's family (Sturch) of Marc and Kim, Leanne and John, Nicholas, Sara, William, Mary-Lyn, and Rowyn; his sister-in-law Marion Rogers (Gord deceased), nephew and nieces: Steve and Lori, Jacqui, Vicky and John, Wendy and Adam, and their children and grandchild­ren.

Dean A. Fockler was born in Ringwood, Ontario, on April 23, 1926, the only child of Almer Leslie and Annie Rosella (Gower) Fockler. He grew up in the Stouville area with extended family nearby. Dean served with the Canadian Army from June 1943 to September 1945. He completed a degree in Chemical Engineerin­g in 1948 and an M.B.A. in 1962 both at Univeristy of Toronto. Dean joined Colgate-Palmolive in 1948 and retired after 40 years of service. Dean and May felt fortunate to enjoy many retirement years together.

Dean and the family are very appreciati­ve for the care and kindness, especially in the last year, of our Qualicare PSWs, Sunnybrook Odette and Palliative care sta , St. Elizabeth sta and Carol and Trevor.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Pine Hills, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarboroug­h, ON M1K 1R1, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, at Guildwood Community Presbyteri­an Church, 140 Guildwood Parkway, Scarboroug­h, ON M1E 1P4, at 1:30 p.m.
