Toronto needs to crack down on motorcycles

-

If someone blasts an electric guitar at night because they enjoy it, it’s considered a nuisance and is prohibited. So why does the city allow sport motorcycles to wail through the night like sirens? Bikers say they purposely make them loud so car drivers can “hear them coming.”

If bikers have to warn others they’re approaching from behind, then they’re racing through traffic and illegally endangering others. The defence of the noise they make is their way of enabling dangerous illegal behaviour that disturbs everyone else trying to sleep.

City council should invite people to email 311 with the licence plates of dangerous and loud bikers and then send a bylaw officer to inspect the bikes. If a bike is too loud, officers can order it restored to its original quiet state with require proof of compliance.

These bikers are literally making Toronto sick.
