Reds lose after allowing no hits

-

Cincinnati rookie Hunter Greene and reliever Art Warren combined to allow zero hits in a complete game, but it didn’t count as an official no-hitter — and the Reds didn’t even win. The Pirates eked out a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on three walks and a groundout for a 1-0 victory in Pittsburgh. The Pirates became just the sixth big-league team since 1901 to win with no hits, and the first since 2008. By MLB rules, Cincinnati’s accomplishment isn’t an official no-hitter because the pitchers didn’t go nine innings. The Pirates didn’t have to bat in the ninth.
