Ford laying waste to once-thriving province

-

Premier Ford, why are you determined to take Ontario backward to a time when our city was ringed by smog? I remember it vividly in the view from my downtown office. Air pollution kills people. And no, we won’t take our sick selves to private hospitals.

Sophisticated, intelligent governments are taking the opposite direction from what you take. You are privatizing Ontario Place, making it inaccessible to people, just as the world recognizes people need more green space.

You are moving the Science Centre away from a population centre because you don’t want children learning the science — that would interfere with your plan to sell off this province to the highest bidder.

You are building on the Greenbelt solely to justify Hwy. 413, just as most jurisdictions in the world turn away from sprawl.

Your sole purpose as premier is to enrich the private sector at the expense of the Ontarians you are supposed to serve.

And no, the private sector is not always better. It does a dreadful job with public services, which is why those services have been created by governments over the years.

You know you only have three more years to run this province into the ground. To destroy our environment, to irreparably damage Ontario, to lay waste to this once thriving province. So you’re going gangbusters — micromanaging every sector to bleed it dry for your buddies.

I’m disgusted and outraged, but I know you don’t care. But that won’t keep me quiet. I’ll be at every march, I will sign every petition, I will attend Queen’s Park because all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.
