Blair backtracks on Diaz ‘retirement’

Toronto Sun - - SHOWBIZ - Selma Blair

Actress is backtracking on comments she made on Cameron Diaz’s ‘retirement’ from movies, insisting she was joking.

The star recently told the U.K.’s Metro newspaper she had lunch with her The Sweetest Thing castmate and suggested they reteam for a sequel to the 2002 film.

“We were reminiscing about the film,” Selma said. “I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like, ‘I’m done.’”

Her remarks sparked online chatter about the end of Diaz’s acting career, but now Blair is clarifying her comments on Twitter.

She tweeted: “Guys please, I was making a joke in an interview. CAMERON DIAZ is NOT retiring from ANYTHING.”
