Winter is the darkest time of the year for those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere. It also happens to be the coldest, too, but we’ll save that topic for another article. When exploring the wilderness or camping at a local campground, it’s important to be able to see what is right in front of you as well as your surroundings. For those times,

many of us reach for our trusty flashlights.

These portable sources of bright, reliable light deliver light when and where we need it the most. For the days and months that seem to get darker earlier and lighter later, it’s nice to have plenty of on-demand light available. Ever since English Inventor David Misell invented the first battery-powered flashlight in 1899, the light-emanating tool has been an important fixture in our lives. You may have one in your glove box or even hanging on your keychain; flashlights are essential for productivity and security after the sun sets.

There’s no question that the main, sometimes only, role of a flashlight is to dole out a beam of light, but there’s no reason why it couldn’t do more. In this guide, we take a look at flashlights that offer more. Some project their beam in multiple manners while another can even jumpstart your vehicle. Let’s see what the latest multi-function flashlights on the market can offer us.
