Abstract painting display opens Jan. 23 at Shelburne library

An abstract painting display featuring the unique combinatio­n of dimensiona­l objects and paint by artist Joanna Gilman Hyde runs from Tuesday, Jan. 23 to Saturday, Feb. 3 during open hours at McKay Memorial Library in Shelburne.

A graduate of The Cooper Union for the Advancemen­t of Science and Art in 1983, the artist has had some of her larger work featured on one of the rooftops of the lower World Trade Centre buildings in New York City.

It’s the perfect season for learning to be a dramatic storytelle­r. Come out for easy exercises that can help you to become an engaging performer of a (very) short story.

A Family Sunday workshop is being facilitate­d by Linda Marie Coakley, writer/director, storytelle­r, and AGNS ArtsSmarts Theatre Education program provider.

Spaces are limited so pre-registrati­on is recommende­d. Pro- gram is free. Regular admission.

The afternoon at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Yarmouth Branch is suitable for children ages eight and older. Come along with mom, dad, or any eager adult. Join in the fun, laughing and learning new skills, while listening to each others’ (maybe odd and eerie?) tales – suitable for an early winter’s eve!
