Nick Hilton team overall Lobster Spiel winner
Curlers from Yarmouth and Windsor, skipped by Yarmouth’s Nick Hilton were the overall winners of the 18th annual Lobster Spiel at the Barrington Regional Curling Club (BRCC) held Feb. 2-4.
Twenty teams from throughout the region competed in the bonspiel, which had an open format this year where competition was a combination of men’s women’s and mixed curling teams.
“We had a great turnout,” said Elwin Smith, president of the BRCC. “The best I’ve seen in four or five years,” crediting the open competition for the increased participation.
Taking the A Division was Nick Hilton and Charles MacIsaac from the Yarmouth Curling Club, who teamed up with Richard Barker and Shelley Barker from Windsor for the overall win. The A Division runners-up were Steve Walsh, Jevon Doane, Matt King and Terry Doane, Shelburne Curling Centre. A Division Consolation went to Art Mancini, Doug Drane, Norm Wallett and Raymond Perry Shelburne Curling Centre.
In B Division competition the winners were Herbert Penny, Ricky Watt, Steve Stoddart and Colby Nickerson, Barrington Jon Langille from the Barrington Regional Curling Club keeps his eyes on the target while delivering a stone during semi-final action at the annual Lobster Spiel. In the C Division, Ricky Swim, Dana Newell, Travis Smith and Andy Swim were the winners, with Gary Thurber, Jon Langille, Graham Smith and James Squires run- ners-up. Both teams are from the Barrington Regional Curling Club.
