Workshop to be led by Alice d’Entremont Unit to replace 32-year-old tanker
Discover the basic principles of landscape design and apply them to a hands- on example during a landscape design event at the Yarmouth branch of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
The event with Alice d’Entremont is being held Sunday, March 25 from 2 to 4 p.m.
D’Entremont will teach attendees how to design/create their own backyard oasis.
Bring your creativity, questions and ideas to this fun afternoon workshop.

A new fire truck is on the way this spring for the Lake Vaughn volunteer fire department in Yarmouth County.
The supplier has advanced the delivery date from July-Aug 2018 to April-May.
The tanker will replace the department’s 32-year-old existing tanker.
Fire chief George Emin presented at the Municipality of Yarmouth’s March 14 committee of the whole meeting requesting George Emin, fire chief for the Lake Vaughn volunteer fire department. a loan for the balance of the cost and said the last few years they have been patching the tank and doing other repairs.
“We’re now finding many parts are becoming obsolete, therefore hard to come by, making it difficult to continue to repair,” he said.
The new tanker will continue to allow firefighters to shuttle water to a fire scene, providing the essential service to the community.
Financial assistance needed from the municipality is approximately $130,000 out of the total $300,000 cost of the tanker.
The item was approved by the committee of the whole and will move forward to the March 28 council meeting for review.
