Clare hosting N.S. Jeux de l’Acadie
Annual gathering features various sports; track and field was held in Dartmouth
The Municipality of Clare is hosting the 2018 Jeux de l’Acadie (Acadian Games) for Nova Scotia, which will be held Friday to Sunday, May 18-20.
Roughly 85 athletes are expected to take part in the games.
The track- and- field portion of the games already has taken place, having been held May 12 at Beazley Field in Dartmouth, but everything else goes this coming weekend, including badminton, improvisation, mini handball, soccer (boys’ and girls’), ultimate frisbee and volleyball (girls’ only).
All sports are mixed unless otherwise noted.
“Improvisation” is a competition in which opposing teams perform scenes, with ratings by the audience and/or by a panel of judges.
There are 11 official regions and two invited regions taking part in this year’s Jeux de l’Acadie for Nova Scotia.
This year’s Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie will be held in Miramichi from June 27 to July 1.
