Art Day being celebrated in Shelburne
Art will take centre stage in Shelburne on Saturday, Aug. 18, as a Shelburne Art Day is held.
The goal is to make this into an annual event.
Activities will be happening on Maiden Lane from 2-5 p.m. as the lane is closed to traffic and opened up to art.
There will be art demonstrations at the Guild Hall, including metal stamping, wood burning, painting, fibre display and pottery wheel. The Guild Hall is being made available from 2 to 5 p.m. for anyone willing to hold demonstrations or sell their art.
Another event is a chalk art contest that will happen on Maiden Lane starting at 2 p.m. “We pro- vide the chalk, you provide the art,” reads a notice about the event. Judging will take place at 5 p.m.
Rock Painting for all ages is another activity, along with face painting and Life Station Painting. With the latter activity decorative panels will be made that will later be used as public art in the town.
The Museums by the Sea complex is also participating in the day. At The Dory Shop there will be pencil rubbings. Crafts will take place at the Shelburne County Museum and Loyalists flags will be the theme at the Ross-Thomson House.
If anyone has questions or an idea for an art project they would like do this day on Maiden Lane, they can contact Robin Walker by email at eventscoordinator@town. shelburne,ns.ca or by phone at 902875-2991, ext. 7.
