FITZGERALD, Alma Mary – age 89, Hubbard’s Point, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Yarmouth Hospital. Born in Hubbard’s Point to the late Melbourne and Leonice (Hubbard) Doucette. Alma was a housewife and a great cook. She enjoyed going for drives, watching T.V. (especially Coronation Street), planting a garden and playing bingo. She enjoyed and took great pleasure in the simple things life had to offer – never asking for anything but always deserving the best. Predecease­d by her husband of 63 years, Leonard L. Fitzgerald and a brother, Ernie Doucette. She is survived by daughter, Cecile (Billy) Wood, as well as by a grandson, Michael Wood; a brother, Kenneth “Bobby” (Lois) Doucette, Yarmouth and sisters, Elsie Amirault, Amirault’s Hill and Lena Atwood, Hubbard’s Point. Mom had the deepest beautiful blue eyes and an exceptiona­lly beautiful smile. She always had a strong faith and always had a prayer for one more, always thinking of others before herself. Visitation took place from 7-9 Tuesday, with prayers at 8:30 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 19 from Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste-Anne-duRuisseau, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Donations in memory of Alma may be made to the Tri-County Site of the VON, St. Anne’s Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice. Reverend Donald Moses officiated the service, interment followed in Port Maitland/Beaver River Cemetery. Family flowers only please.
