Some legendary NHLers will be lacing up in support of the Shelburne County Minor Hockey Association during a stop on the Legends All Stars Hockey Events’ Slap Shots and Boot Stompin’ Tour.

Seven-time Stanley Cup winner and Hockey Hall of Famer Bryan Trottier (New York Islanders), four-time Stanley Cup winner Mike Krushelnyski (Edmonton Oilers), Stanley Cup winner Cliff Ronning (Vancouver Canucks), and Bryan Muir (Colorado Avalanche) who also has his name engraved on hockey’s holy grail are headlining the Legends’ team who will be facing off against the Barrington and Area All Stars at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 18.

The fun doesn’t stop there. After the game, country music star Aaron Pritchett and New Brunswick’s country/pop artist Andy Bast will be hosting a meet and greet kitchen party at the Barrington Area Lions Club for those 19 and older.

“Hockey and music kind of go together,” said Treva Hiltz, Legends All Stars Hockey Events organizer. “Aaron is actually an alumni member of the Vancouver Canucks. He does a lot of work with them. He loves being on the ice as much as he loves having a guitar in his hand.”

By adding country music to the tour, she said, “it allows us to bring in different types of interest in the community.”

Started in 2014, Legends All Stars Hockey Events is a hockey event planning company specializing in bringing all-star hockey teams to community arenas in support of local groups.

“We do several tours a year, coast to coast,” said Hiltz. “This tour is in Nova Scotia with stops in Tatamagouche, Barrington, Sackville and Chester . . . this is the first time in Barrington.”

Hiltz said they are hoping to get time for a school visit with some high school students prior to the

game.

“The guys always like to meet and talk to students about the importance of reaching their goals, respecting parents, bullying, positive things. There’s a lot of things that resonate with the kids and players,” Hiltz said. “These players, although they had major NHL careers, they enjoy getting out into the smaller communities because it’s there they meet true hockey fans. It’s a treat for us to visit as much as it is for them.”
