Volunteer first responder organizations receive funding
Eight first responder organizations in tri-counties receive funding assistance
Eight first responder organizations in the tri-counties have received a total of $60,000 in funding from the provincial Emergency Services Provider Fund to assist with the purchase necessary safety equipment.
“These organizations are supported by volunteers, who put in countless hours training for and responding to emergencies,” said Municipal Affairs Minister Chuck Porter when making the announcement on Oct. 19. “The Emergency Services Provider Fund enhances the safety of those who give so selflessly to protect our communities.”
It total, 60 organizations throughout the province received more than $900,000 in grants this year through the Emergency Services Provider Fund, which offers financial assistance to volunteer fire departments and ground search and rescue organizations, including HAZMAT organizations, to upgrade equipment that is used directly in response to a fire or emergency. Eligible organizations can apply for up to 75 per cent of new safety equipment costs, to a maximum of $20,000.
