WATKINS, John Wil­liam Jr. – born May 10th, 1949 to the late John Watkins Sr. and Ruth (Nick­er­son) of Over­ton, died peace­fully at the age of 69 on Thursday, Oc­to­ber 18th, 2018 at Yar­mouth Re­gional Hospi­tal sur­rounded by his fam­ily. J.W. could usu­ally be found out­side in his gar­dens or work­ing in his yard. His favourite pas­times in­cluded beach­comb­ing, rid­ing his 4-wheeler, play­ing darts with his bud­dies, golf­ing in Yar­mouth and in the past he was an avid bowler. He looked for­ward to break­fast with the guys and the time they spent to­gether. He was a fish­er­man for 40 years and be­fore he re­tired, he worked as a deck­hand and cook on var­i­ous tugs for 15 years. He is sur­vived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen “Lovey” (Scov­ille); son Ge­orge (Paula) of Brook­lyn, daugh­ters Janie (Dwayne Cameron) of Day­ton and

Julie (Dave Gal­lant) of La Crete, Al­berta, grand­chil­dren Meg­gan, Josh, John, Rachael, Lau­ren, Reese and Myelle; sis­ter Cathy (John Turpin), and brother Gor­don (Lisa). He was pre­de­ceased by his sis­ter Anne, and his brother Peter, as well as his grand­daugh­ter May. Visi­ta­tion was held Sun­day from 7-9 pm. in the Sweeny’s Fu­neral Home Chapel. Fu­neral Ser­vice Mon­day at 2 pm. also in the Sweeny’s Fu­neral Home Chapel. Rev. Craig Mi­nard of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial took place in the Cheg­gogin Ceme­tery fol­low­ing the ser­vice. Do­na­tions can be made to Yar­mouth Ground Search and Res­cue, CASARA or the Gilles Boudreau Cancer Fund or the char­ity of your choice. Fu­neral ar­range­ments have been en­trusted to Sweeny’s Fu­neral Home and Cre­ma­to­rium, Yar­mouth.
