‘Sing the Winter Away’ at the Osprey
Naming the Twins launching new album
The folk duo Naming the Twins will launch their third full length CD ‘Sing the Winter Away’ at the Osprey Arts Centre in Shelburne on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Naming The Twins is the Shelburne-based harmonizing folk duo of Robbie Smith and Kathleen Glauser.
Playing with the Twins for this special CD release concert is special guest, multi-instrumentalist Jude Pelley on instruments like the banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, Irish flute and who knows what else.
Their new album of winterthemed songs is a collection of originals written by both Smith and Glauser. Some of Canada’s best musicians have joined them on the album with recording sessions in both Ottawa and Montreal.
This past spring, they were given a fantastic opportunity to record an album with Bill Garrett of Borealis Records in Montreal. Borealis Records was created in 1996 to answer a need in Canada’s musical spectrum, to create an artist-friendly home for Canadian folk and roots music.
“We believe this music is timeless and relevant in that it plays an important role in our everyday lives,” says Garrett. “Folk and Roots music connects to our real lives in ways that bland, mega-corporate-driven pop cannot.”
Naming the Twins is thrilled to have this opportunity to release their new album in their own hometown.
