Municipali­ty of Barrington properties on Christmas house tour

Properties between Doctor’s Cove and Woods Harbour featured in tour

Properties between Doctor’s Cove and Woods Harbour are being featured in the 2018 Barrington and Area Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas House Tour.

The tour will take place Sunday, Dec. 2 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The tour includes three homes, a church and the historic IOOF Hall in Woods Harbour, which is home to the Samuel Wood Society and Museum, where a Christmas tea will be hosted for tour goers.

Tickets for the house tour are available in advance and the day of the tour at Wilson’s Home Hardware Building Centre in Barrington Passage. Tickets ($10 adult, $5 children) will also be available the day of the house tour at the Samuel Wood Museum. Proceeds from the tour are donated to charity.

CALVARY UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH

Starting with the Calvary United Baptist Church (# 6642, Highway 3, Woods Harbour), tour goers are in for a treat. A living nativity scene with backdrops painted by local artist Beryl Goreham will be featured on the main floor. On the lower level special Christmas decoration­s made by children will be on display.

THE SMITH HOME

The home of Stephanie and Mark Smith (#580, Bear Point Road), is a split entry level decorated in a contempora­ry style with a little bit of country mix which is sure to give tour goers that wonderful Christmas feeling.

THE BULLERWELL HOME

The home of Margaret and Jim Bullerwell, (#4646 Highway 3, Doctor’s Cove) is a two-bedroom bungalow decorated in a warm country style. A highlight of the tour will be Margaret’s impressive snowman collection, which features about 350 snowmen of all shapes, styles and sizes.

THE SEARS HOME

The unique six-bedroom home of Jodi Thomas and Robert Sears (#4122, Highway 3, Doctor’s Cove) is next on the list. The house will be decorated on the lower level for the tour with modern contempora­ry Christmas décor which will lead into a cozy farmhouse theme.

IOOF HALL

The historic IOOF Hall in Woods Harbour, which is home to the Samuel Wood Society and Museum, is where tour goers will enjoy Christmas tea this year. Built in 1906, the building has served the community in many ways over the years. Tour goers can also enjoy viewing the many artifacts on display at the museum.
