NDP leader speaks out on Long-term Care Panel extension

NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement last week in response to the Liberal government’s announcement that plans to deal with long-term care issues won’t be announced until 2019:

“The McNeil Liberals continue to drag their heels on providing solutions to the issues with longterm care. This past summer we heard about the need for improvements to address bedsores. The government’s response was an expert panel whose recommendations we look forward to seeing.

“During their five years in power the Liberals have cut $5 million from nursing homes. Restoring that funding and moving forward on a plan to increase staffing levels would make a real difference now for the people who need it.”
