Par-en-Bas junior girls get silver in regionals

Yarmouth County team reaches final but loses to host Bluenose Academy

École secondaire de Paren-Bas of Tusket, Yarmouth County, earned silver medals at the tier 1 junior girls volleyball regionals held at Bluenose Academy on Nov. 28, losing to the host team in the championsh­ip game.

The top six teams from the western region took part in the one-day tournament.

Par-en-Bas placed first in their pool by defeating Clare 25-11, 26-24 and Horton 25-16, 25-20.

They then faced Digby in the crossovers and came on top 2513, 25-21 to earn a spot in the championsh­ip, where they fell short to Bluenose Academy, losing in two sets to get silver.

The regionals capped off a season in which the Par-en-Bas junior girls won gold in their home tournament and also at the Digby tournament.

The team was coached by Andrea Doucette, assisted by Chase DeViller and Kelsey Boyd.
