- TRICOUNTY VANGUARD

The St. Mary’s Bay Academy junior girls’ volleyball team not only brought home the silver medal from NSSAF Western Regionals, but they also brought home some added school pride as prior to this season the team had not placed in districts or regionals before.

The team went 3-0 in the round robin, only dropping one set along the way before defeating Digby in three sets in the semi-final.

The St. Mary’s Bay team eventually fell to a tough Wolfville team in three sets in the regionals championship final, but their second place showing still capped off a fantastic season.

The junior girls’ team from Digby has gone 2-1 in their pool before losing to St. Mary’s Bay in the crossover round.

Digby then faced North Queens in the bronze-medal game, winning it in two sets with scores of 25-22 and 25-18.

The NSSAF regionals were held in Wolfville last week.
