-

MANUGE, Elizabeth Starr, age 93, of Lake Annis, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2018. She was the daughter of John and Frances (Vickery) Goudey. Elizabeth’s compassion for people motivated her studies in psychology at Victoria College (UofT). Sailing was in her blood and she bravely skippered her own boats. Her passion for art developed from collecting Canadian art and working in Manuge Galleries Limited. She became an etching and watercolour enthusiast and was a lifelong member of Yarmouth Art Society, as well as the Yarmouth Historical Society and Museum. She was an avid reader and member of the Kritosophian Club. One of her greatest joys was working in her garden. Elizabeth was a true gentlewoman, with a beguiling smile and wicked sense of humour. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Timothy (Susanne); daughter, Marianne; granddaughters, Carla and Laura; and her twin sister, Margaret. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son, Thomas; and brother, John. A celebration of her life will be held in Beacon United Church, 25 Beacon St., Yarmouth on Thursday, December 13 at 2 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers to Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Western Branch, 341 Main St, Yarmouth, NS B5A 1E7
