Drumlin Heights staff film crew enjoys expressing school spirit
A lively lip dub filmed by Drumlin Heights Consolidated School staff is spreading the true meaning of Christmas.
Teacher Tyler Smith says the staff film crew that he’s a member of like to express school spirit.
“We started making videos last year when science teacher Ben Drew arrived at Drumlin,” he says.
“He’s very comfortable with producing videos and brings what we do at Drumlin Heights to the Internet, so other schools and other people can see it.”
Smith says their Christmas lip dub was “remarkably easy.” Last year the crew made a rap video that required everyone to write their own piece followed by filming and editing.
This one was “one-take” (no edits required). A Nikon D3200 was used to film the action.
He says everybody was keen to do the video so they took some time as staff outside of class to bring it to life.
An outline of the locations was filmed without everybody in it so they would have an idea of where to be. Then they did a “one-through” just for practice.
“What you see online is our second go,” he says.
“When you have everybody working on the same page, it goes pretty easily.”
Smith says there are a few ideas for more videos on the “back burner.”
“It’s just a matter of when to put them together.”
He adds they would like to get some students involved in future videos.
“Now that we have a few videos up, the students are really looking forward to making something of their own.”
