POTHIER, Edward Pierre

– age 81, Lower Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpected­ly on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born January 31, 1937 in Wedgeport, he was a son of the late Tim and Anita (Boudreau) Pothier. Edward will be remembered as a very hard worker, having worked primarily as a carpenter, but also as a boatbuilde­r, fisherman and truck driver. Although he had many interests, his true passion was working with wood and he was always ready for a challenge. He is survived by his commonlaw partner, Patricia Comeau, as well as by his sons, Obie (Linda) Pothier, Steve (Liz) Pothier, both of New London, CT; Ed (Tara) Pothier, Wedgeport; Dave (Shaunna) Pothier, Barrington and Dennis (Cynthia) Pothier, Cape Sable Island, as well as by 11 grandchild­ren, eight great grandchild­ren and a sister, Phyllis (Louis) Cottreau, Wedgeport. Aside from his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife, Florence “Flossie” (Richard) Pothier and by sisters, Anne Creaser and Margaret Comeau. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. A private service will take place on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport with interment in the parish cemetery. The family will continue to celebrate Edward’s life with a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion, Wedgeport, following the service. Aside from his parents, he was predecease­d by a brother, Reggie Brown. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and again from 7 to 9 on Wednesday from H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, where a funeral service took place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, Rev. M. Alden Fells officiated. A reception followed at the Holy Trinity Church Hall, William St., Yarmouth. Spring interment will take place in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
