Cape Forchu Bridge reduced to one lane

The Cape Forchu Bridge on Route 304, located at the Yarmouth Bar, is reduced to one lane of traffic while repairs to the bridge are underway.

The one lane for traffic is expected to be in place until Sunday, March 31.

Traffic lights and traffic control personnel will be on site. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

Last spring

a

$1-million roadwork project was announced by the province that included replacement of the causeway bridge leading to Cape Forchu along with maintenance of the seawall and armour stone that’s at the Yarmouth Bar.

The armour stone has sunk down quite a bit over the years.

The route is the only road to the Yarmouth lighthouse and the Yarmouth Bar is also home to a large sector of the fishing fleet in Yarmouth County.

Work at the site got underway in November.
