SWIM, Merle Leroy “Buddy”

– 87, Yarmouth, passed away December 30, 2018 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 18, 1931 in Rockville, he was a son to the late Douglas and Annie May (Ross) Swim. A fisherman by trade, Merle enjoyed crafting and especially model boat building. He enjoyed going to the wharf in the mornings to see what the day brought for the local fishermen. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are wife Antia (Bent); daughters, Donna (Chris) Harrison, Yarmouth; Nadine Swim, Yarmouth; son, Michael Swim, Clark’s Harbour; step children, David Hyes; Robert Taggart; Quinn Taggart; Stacey Taggart; 6 grandchild­ren; 5 step grandchild­ren and 8 great grandchild­ren. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by brothers, Danny; Sable; Norbel; Genesta; Anthoney; sisters, Vera; Francila; Phyllis; Gloria and Hattie. Funeral arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. There was a Graveside Service on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. from the Chebogue Cemetery, Rev A.D. Bill Newell officiated. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or SPCA.
