SWIM, Merle Leroy “Buddy”

– 87, Yar­mouth, passed away De­cem­ber 30, 2018 in the Yar­mouth Re­gional Hos­pi­tal. Born July 18, 1931 in Rockville, he was a son to the late Dou­glas and Annie May (Ross) Swim. A fish­er­man by trade, Merle en­joyed craft­ing and es­pe­cially model boat build­ing. He en­joyed go­ing to the wharf in the morn­ings to see what the day brought for the local fish­er­men. He is the last sur­viv­ing mem­ber of his im­me­di­ate fam­ily. Sur­viv­ing are wife An­tia (Bent); daugh­ters, Donna (Chris) Har­ri­son, Yar­mouth; Na­dine Swim, Yar­mouth; son, Michael Swim, Clark’s Har­bour; step chil­dren, David Hyes; Robert Tag­gart; Quinn Tag­gart; Stacey Tag­gart; 6 grand­chil­dren; 5 step grand­chil­dren and 8 great grand­chil­dren. Be­sides his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by brothers, Danny; Sable; Nor­bel; Gen­esta; An­thoney; sis­ters, Vera; Fran­cila; Phyl­lis; Glo­ria and Hat­tie. Fu­neral ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Sweeny’s Fu­neral Home and Cre­ma­to­rium, Yar­mouth. There was a Grave­side Ser­vice on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. from the Che­bogue Ceme­tery, Rev A.D. Bill Newell of­fi­ci­ated.
