Yar­mouth Mariners still in first place

past week­end in their first game af­ter the hol­i­day break.

The Mariners and Lum­ber­jacks were tied 2-2 af­ter the first pe­riod of the Jan. 5 game, with goals scored by Matt Bar­ron and Brett Cross­ley. The Mariners had pulled ahead 4-3 at the end of the sec­ond pe­riod with two more goals off the sticks, once again, of Bar­ron and Cross­ley.

South Shore’s Bran­don Stone also had a dou­ble-goal night, scor­ing the tie goal for South Shore at 5:55 in the third, which was his sec­ond of the night. In OT, South Shore’s Bair Gen­dunov had the game win­ner at 4:16 in the over­time frame.

The two teams were vir­tu­ally even with shots on net, with the Mariners at 32 shots and the Lum­ber­jacks at 31. Alec MacVicar was in net for the Mariners.
