A tourism product pitch competition will also take place in the afternoon, where operators and entrepreneurs are invited to participate for a chance to win a cash prize to help enhance or start-up their tourismbased business.

“The team at Ignite is incredibly excited to help inspire and develop new tourism start-ups. The tourism industry is a key part of the Nova Scotia economy with more and more people coming to our beautiful province,” says Doug Jones, the executive director and founder of Ignite Labs. “With unique features, landscapes, foods and experiences, I can’t wait to see the ideas that will be pitched at the Tourism Startup Weekend.”

Neil MacKenzie, executive director of Yarmouth & Acadian Shores, is pleased to see our region grow as a destination and welcomes this new innovative partnership.

“Over the past five years, Yarmouth & Acadian Shores has seen year over year growth in tourism revenue and ferry passenger traffic,” says MacKenzie. “Provincial, municipal and private sector investment in tourism means visitors are staying here longer and spending more. By partnering with Ignite Labs we hope

to continue to foster these positive trends and see more tourism experiences offered to visitors.”

There is no cost to attend the event and food and beverages will be provided for the day.
