Mystery solved: A good place to be

- Kristy Herron

How many couples have a date night? That is a special time for you and your significant loved one have for each other? That is just for you?

Usually it has a meal, some conversation alone time, social interaction and laughter. I am old and dancing until sunrise is a delightful memory, but not possible anymore. However, I have alternatives. Delightful alternatives!

We found the Clementsport Legion. Every Friday we can have a reasonably priced meal that we enjoy in the company of others and relax. For me, no dishes. Home cooked meals, great fellowship and a welcoming atmosphere. Yes, this is a fundraiser to keep their entity alive, but this entity is so very alive, vibrant and accepting.

To that end they, with the help of the Annapolis District Drama Group, are giving us a dinner theater. ‘The Romanian Uranium Mystery’ by D.M. Larson is on Saturday, Feb. 9.

They say a Romanian count is “missing.” He’s the third victim in a scam being run to own a uranium mine. The first two “investors” have never been heard from again. Inspector Clueless poses as the Count to catch the criminal, but as his name suggests he’s a little lost. With Marilyn Monroe wannabes, greedy businessmen/women and crazy yaya protestors, can our audience get to the bottom of this mystery? Or will one of our characters wind up dead?

Du, du, dumm…Muhahahahaha! Yeeks! That so sounds like fun! The details include: Can Inspector Clueless unravel the tangled mess? And locate the culprit? The cast includes Buffy Beaumont Alexi Payzant and Juliet Redheart; Colleen Rowland, Countess Ranche: Verilea Ellis, Dee Livery: Sierrah McClelland, Buzz E. Body: Dan Marsh and Goldy Digger: Brian Rice with Inspector Clueless: Simon Bonnington. The tickets are $20 for a quarter-chicken dinner. Order tickets by calling the legion at 902-638-3303. Doors open 5:30 p.m. Supper and murder is at 6 p.m.

Let us be real for a bit. The dear ones who volunteer to ensure we have this social resource have made an attempt to attract us to use their location and invest in their activities. Note I said invest. This legion recently celebrated an anniversary of service. Service to the brave souls who have invested their lives in the service to our country, our values and our way of life. Many who they honour paid the ultimate sacrifice. They gave up their life to serve others. This legion supports widows and orphans.

I have been at a dear one’s side when this legion gave a highly decorated veteran a respectful service, but that did not end there. They respected his wishes and made sure she had care. The Canada he fought for and the generations he ensured had freedom and rights were not on the ground level, but the Clementsport Legion understood!

The Clementsport Branch 122 is located on Highway No. 1, approximately 12 km west of Annapolis Royal and 21 km east of Digby. They say, “It was at its best while HMCS/CFB Cornwallis was in full swing but is still busy, offering a variety of events. Branch 122 supports the Royal Canadian Army Cadets of Annapolis Royal, The Good Neighbours Club, a seniors’ organization, which is very successful, and the Dam Society, which offers swimming for children.”

However, this entity is so much more. This site is a community centre ¬¬¬– bringing us together and making our lives happier, healthier and stronger.

Hey $20 is not much, but your support means a great deal.

Think about it. Hope to see you there!
