Horton 3 – Clare 2

The Horton Griffins hosted Clare Loups Saturday night at Centennial Arena in Kentville.

Neither team could solve goaltenders Taylor MacMillan (Horton) or Maxime Hanna (Clare) throughout the first period. Horton was able to keep the game scoreless, killing a five-minute major penalty that included a full two-minute, two-man advantage for Clare.

Clare grabbed the lead early in the second when Sebastien LeBlanc pounced on a puck that took a bad bounce from the corner straight in front of the net and directed it behind MacMillan.

Horton tied the game a few minutes later on the powerplay when a Horton pass to the slot was redirected by a Clare defender and beat Hanna.

Horton went ahead a little over a minute into the third period on a wraparound goal surprising Hanna. Forty seconds later a Horton player tipped the puck from off the stick of a Loups defender and took the puck in alone on a breakaway to make it 3-1.

Tayson Maillett drew the Loups to within a goal midway through the third when he redirected a pass from behind the net past MacMillan.
