Who’s running in West Nova?
Federal election happening Oct. 21
We’re going to the polls with the federal election day scheduled for Monday, Oct. 21.
In the constituency of West Nova, there will be a new MP for sure, given that Colin Fraser, the Liberal incumbent, is not running again.
The following are candidates running in West Nova:
CONSERVATIVE PARTY
Chris d’Entremont – the Conservatives’ candidate in West Nova – is making the move to federal politics after 16 years as a provincial MLA.
A resident of the Municipality of Argyle, d’Entremont was first elected to the Nova Scotia legislature in 2003 and was re-elected five straight times. While in provincial government, he held a number of ministerial portfolios, including health, community services and Acadian affairs.
He officially resigned as MLA for Argyle-Barrington at the end of July.
GREEN PARTY
Business owner Judy N Green of Clementsport is the Green Party candidate.
She works a wellness coach and educator in Digby.
Born in B.C., she has lived throughout Canada and has called Nova Scotia home for over 20 years. A veteran, Green has an undergraduate degree from Acadia University and completed her masters in computer science at Carleton University in Ottawa.
LIBERAL PARTY
Clare resident Jason Deveau, who is running for the Liberals, has been executive assistant to Colin Fraser, the Liberal incumbent since 2015, who announced last year he would not re-offer.
Deveau is a former policy analyst with the federal government, where he worked with senior government officials on a range of files.
He has a bachelor of arts in geography and a masters degree in geography, both from the University of Ottawa.
Matthew Dubois, the NDP’s West Nova candidate, is retired after working 33 years as a frontline health-care worker. He lives in Granville Ferry.
During his career as a lab assistant with the Victoria General/QE II Hospital, he was an active trade unionist, serving on the local executive and with Nova Scotia Federation of Labour committees.
PEOPLE’S PARTY OF CANADA
Chad Hudson is running in West Nova for the People’s Party of Canada.
Hudson grew up in Bridgetown, where he currently lives.
He has a decade of experience working in Nova Scotia’s tourism sector and also has worked as a small business consultant and in sales.
RHINOCEROS PARTY
Nick Archer is the Rhinoceros Party’s West Nova candidate. The party did not provide biographical information.
