RCMP investigating two suspicious incidents at a vacant home

-

Yarmouth Town RCMP has been investigating two suspicious incidents at a vacant home on Argyle Street and is asking for information from the public about them.

On Jan. 25, police responded to a call at 5:30 p.m. of an assault with a weapon. A victim told RCMP that three men left the home, and when the victim saw them, one of the men, who was armed with a knife, approached the victim and told him not to tell anyone.

The three men then fled the area on foot. The victim was not injured.

RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the search for the suspects, however they were not located. The suspects were described as white males, believed to be in late twenties to early thirties, wearing black masks and black clothing. The man with the knife spoke English and had blue eyes.

On Feb. 1, a fire at the same home was reported to police who were in the area conducting routine patrols. The cause of the fire is not known, and no one was in the home at the time. Firefighters responded to the fire at the structure – located next to the former Temple church on Argyle Street. The house was heavily damaged in the rear, with smoke damage throughout the house. The fire call came at about 7:20 p.m. and firefighters were there until about midnight. Firefighters from the Port Maitland and Lake Vaughan fire departments assisted the Yarmouth Fire Department.

Anyone who has information about either of these incidents is asked to contact Yarmouth Town RCMP at 902-742-8777.
