The Yarmouth Pink Star Barro Atom A Mariners played playoff game 1 on Sunday, Feb. 9, in Lunenburg. This was the first of a 2-of-3 playoff series with

South Shore and ended in a 3-2 win for South Shore.

Cullen Fitzgerald scored two goals with assists from Parker LeBlanc, Jesse Churchill and Myles Ellis. Jarriyn Maxwell and Austin Stoddard were in net.

Game 2 will be played at home Saturday, Feb. 15, at 3:30 p.m.

BANTAM A

The Scotiabank Western Riptide

Bantam A girls played two home playoff games this past weekend. On Saturday they took on Pictou for an

8-3 loss. Chloe Swaine scored two goals and Katie Atkinson scored one. Havanah Perry, Jorden Nickerson, Katie Atkinson and Isabel Doucette each had an assist.

On Sunday Riptide played Colchester and won 7-2. Rene Melanson had a hattrick and one assist, while Carly Kini had one goal and three assists. Madison Cushing had one goal and two assists and Issabelle d’Entremont and Isabel Doucette each had one goal and one assist. Brandee Goodwin, Adele Comeau, Chloe Swaine and France Boudreau also each had an assist.

BANTAM A

The GPK Refrigerat­ion Bantam A Mariners opened the first round of the Hockey Nova Scotia playdowns with a 4-0 win against the Western Valley Spartans.

Scoring for the Mariners were Keaton Muise (assisted by Landon Watkins-Bonnar and Ryan d’Entremont), Landon Watkins-Bonnar (assisted by Brody Smith and Daniel Kenney), Lucas Cottreau (assisted by Ollie Tipton and Landon Watkins-Bonnar) and Daniel Kenney (assisted by Alyre Richardson and Nolan Cottreau).

Braeden Hipson was in net, earning his fourth shutout of the season.

Game 2 of the best-ofthree series takes place at the Mariners Centre on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 12:30 p.m.
