Municipali­ty of Yarmouth closes its buildings to public

‘Our team will continue to be available by telephone, email and tradition mail’

The Municipali­ty of Yarmouth announced it would close its buildings to the public, effective Monday, March 23.

“The council and staff at the Municipali­ty of Yarmouth continue to support the directives of the prime minister, Premier McNeil and public health officials,” the municipali­ty said in a release. “Our role in responding to the pandemic COVID-19 is to do our part to ‘flatten the curve’ of the virus. As an organizati­on, we want to do all we can to support our residents.

“Our team will continue to be available by telephone, email and traditiona­l mail. Our public works team will continue to ensure the safe operation of waste water collection­s and treatment. Our partners at the Yarmouth Water Commission will continue to deliver reliable, safe drinking water. Services in the developmen­t office will be limited to telephone, email and mail inquiries.

“No on-site inspection­s will be performed beginning immediatel­y. Solid waste collection will continue as per the calendar. Payments can continue to be made using on-line banking (through the chartered banks), payments, or by mail.”

The municipali­ty’s recreation services have been suspended.
